“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.”

Today we are going to dwell on the verse above. This is the main focus in today’s blog. I pray that this would hit home, because to me it has. It’s actually deeper than we think… It’s a pretty straight forward verse, but I want to speak deeper about it. It is very important for us to have the right intentions when we do things, especially for God. Everything that we do in life, should be driven and derived by our love & reverence for our God. We don’t love because people deserve it, we love because He first loved us. We don’t forgive because people deserve it, we love because He first loved us. We don’t live for ourselves, we live because we were made for Him and through Him. Like most people, I believe that David the psalmist knew it best. He knew how to make sure his heart was postured before God. If you read about his life, he wasn’t one of the most perfect men in the Bible… He sinned and he failed before God, before. What he understood best, was who was true; God. He understood that it was God whom he was sinning against, ultimately. If you look more in depth into Psalm 51- one of my favorite chapters by the way… I’ve been in tears reading this chapter, even now, here and there I will read it.

“For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You do not take pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭51‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

The above verses is what God would like from us. It’s always been about the posture of our hearts. I thank God that it’s not about the sacrifices, the things we can do (works). There is no amount of work that I could do to earn anything from God. Whatever we do in life, whether it’s for your job. The verse I mentioned at the beginning, it says whether you drink or eat, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. We shouldn’t be living life to glorify ourselves, our bodies, or even the people around us. When we came to the Lord, we agreed to be in covenant with God. We agreed to take up our cross and follow Jesus… But sometimes we fall into being a self centered Christian. I say it because that was me… No one is perfect, but we need to be cautious with our hearts and refocus our minds…

“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

We need to constantly be vigilant that we not fall. We need to take up our cross “daily” and follow Christ. Meaning, we constantly need to be on guard, because the enemy is literally go around prowling like a lion. ready to catch his next prey…

This season, I’ve learned if I’m going to make sure of anything… it’s not going to be of my earthly possessions! But of my heart before God… In everything I do, I’m going to make sure that I am doing it for the glory of God. Not for my glory, or for anyone else. God is looking for us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. We can fool each other… but God is the one who truly sees the heart of all of mankind. I’ve learned that He will also allow trials to see what state our hearts are in… When you are in a trial, you don’t see it that way, I get it, that was me. But we actually need it, it helps us truly see, what actually is governing our hearts… God uses it for opportunity, but also for refinement…

“¶Search me, God, and know my heart; Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there is any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
Again, the Psalmist knew it best… May this be our prayer as well, in this season…
