“Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. For it is written: “He is the one who catches the wise by their craftiness”;”
1 Corinthians 3:18-19 NASB2020
I used to think that knowledge was everything… I had a season of my life where I was so desperately focused on having knowledge. Specifically the knowledge of God, which in a sense isn’t bad. But slowly but surely, God was showing me what truly was the point. Oneness and intimacy was, above all. You see we humans are so mistaken sometimes. We think we are always right, like our ways are above Gods ways. The Pharisees were experts at this… Sometimes we fall right along with their ways as well. Sometimes we let so much knowledge get into our heads… But God has been teaching me, what is the point of knowing so much, if you don’t actually do it. The word of God teaches us, that we shouldn’t just be hearers of the word, but be doers… I also think what is most important to God, is our hearts… We shouldn’t be wanting to be filled with Gods word, if we aren’t actually going to live it out. Plus the more we do know, the more is expected of you. Which is why it is so important, what you do know, make sure you are living it; wholeheartedly. Don’t just do things to fill in a checkbox, do it to be like our Heavenly Father and abide by his commands. I used to get so mad because I would see people know so much word. They would recite so many Bible verses, and I barely knew any. I felt very slow because sometimes I couldn’t understand the word of God, like everyone else. When just in reality, God works in all of His children, differently. It doesn’t mean one is better than the other. It simply means He is doing different things, in different seasons in the lives of His children…
I love the above verse because it teaches so much… God literally says that in order to become wise in Him, we must become foolish to this world. I was doing deeper research because this interest me a lot. To be wise in this world, is to gather our wisdom from human logic, experience and cultural norms. While the wisdom of Heaven is to gather it from Gods word, the Bible and the Holy Spirit. You see we need to be really cautious with ourselves… Trying to attain so much knowledge can be very dangerous, because sometimes we can lean towards thinking that our logic is better than Gods. When if you really think about it, sometimes Gods ways doesn’t make sense. Or they don’t always look like how we expected it to look like, but His ways always fall perfectly… and how it should. We can’t let ourselves get in the way of what and how our Heavenly Father wants to do things. It’s His creation, He will do as He pleases… If we aren’t cautious enough, we will allow ourselves to fall into holes we were never meant to be in…
